Baseball Game Preview: Willow Spring Storm vs. Fuquay - Varina Bengals

The Willow Spring Storm will face off against the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Willow Spring took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Cleveland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Storm came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Willow Spring saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Cannaday, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Cannaday has posted since back in March. Gio Tafalla was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fuquay - Varina posted their closest win since February 26th on Tuesday. They skirted past Willow Spring 3-2.

Willow Spring pushed their record up to 10-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fuquay - Varina, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
