Volleyball Recap: Story Gaines Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat New Haven

There's no place like home for Fort Wayne Wayne, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the New Haven Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday. The Generals were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Bulldogs, so the Generals were just returning the favor.

While Fort Wayne Wayne won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-19, 25-21.

Fort Wayne Wayne got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Story Gaines out in front who had five kills, three digs, and two aces. That's the most digs Gaines has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Brooks, who had 16 digs.

The win got Fort Wayne Wayne back to even at 1-1. As for New Haven, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Fort Wayne Wayne will head out to challenge Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Haven, they will welcome Fort Wayne North Side at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
