Preview: Lake Minneola Hawks vs. Lake Howell Silver Hawks
The Lake Minneola Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Lake Howell Silver Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Lake Minneola posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Saturday. They blew past Central Florida Christian Academy 80-58. Given Lake Minneola's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Central Florida Christian Academy is ranked 345th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Minneola relied on the efforts of Landon Blackwell, who scored 24 points, and Dakari Francis, who scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Francis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Isom, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Lake Howell scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Altamonte Christian with a sharp 84-61 win. With Lake Howell ahead 42-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lake Minneola and bumps their season record up to 9-8. As for Lake Howell, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Lake Minneola suffered a grim 79-54 defeat to Lake Howell in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Lake Minneola avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
