Preview: Danville Christian Academy Warriors vs. Newport Wildcats

Danville Christian Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Newport Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Danville Christian Academy beat Jackson County 60-47. Given Danville Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Jackson County is ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Newport had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sayre and snuck past 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Newport has posted yet this season.

It was another big night for Deshaun Jackson jr, who scored 13 points along with four steals and three blocks. Jabari Covington was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Danville Christian Academy's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Newport, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
