There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. That and more in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Woodstock in its matchup against Missisquoi Valley. The team got that and then some. Everything went Woodstock's way against Missisquoi Valley as it secured a 65 - 16 victory. The Missisquoi Valley defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 46 points per game), and Woodstock took advantage of that. At 81 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Burr & Burton (1st in the power rankings) and Fair Haven (4th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Burr & Burton had all the answers against Fair Haven, winning 48 - 14. 48 is shaping up to be Burr & Burton's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its victory over Bellows Falls the game before.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Middlebury (5th in the power rankings) and Rutland (8th). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
