Softball Recap: Saint Francis' Winning Streak Snapped at 14 Games

Saint Francis dropped their record down to 24-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's 14-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Valley Christian Warriors by a score of 9-7. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 9-2.

Jaime Oakland was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Tsao, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Valley Christian, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

On Valley Christian's side, they got a great performance from Melody Gonzales as she pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Gonzales has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makenzie Leon was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Makena Blauman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As of now, neither Saint Francis nor Valley Christian have any future games scheduled.
