Softball Recap: Fairmont Senior Gets the Win

Fairmont Senior's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Robert C. Byrd Eagles. With that win, the Polar Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kylo Dodd made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Talia Olivito was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Abigail Shuck was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Fairmont Senior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Fairmont Senior's record is now 7-8-1. As for Robert C. Byrd, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.
