Basketball Recap: Evart Finds Home Court Redemption Against Pine River Area

There's no place like home for Evart, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 71-55 victory over the Pine River Area Bucks on Thursday. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Pine River Area's loss came despite strong showings from Mason Gugle and Ayden Nichols. Gugle posted 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, while Nichols went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points along with five boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Gugle is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Martin, who put up six points and four steals.

Evart's record now sits at 9-2. As for Pine River Area, they moved to 8-1 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Evart will welcome Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine River Area, they will face off against Manton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
