Football Recap: Stansbury Piles Up the Points Against Bear River

There's no place like home for Stansbury, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-14 win over the Bear River Bears. The Stallions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 33 points or more this season.

Brighton Reutzel produced another solid performance throwing for 373 yards and four TDs while completing 82.1% of his passes, and also rushing for 73 yards on only five carries. Those 73 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Stansbury didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Bear River to a completion percentage of just 38.1%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: James Shaw and Solomone Laakulu, who each logged one passes deflected. That defensive display was nothing new: Stansbury has limited their opponent to a lower and lower completion percentage in three consecutive contests.

Although Bear River took the loss, they still got scores from Korver Riley and Glaiden Behrens.

Stansbury pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 40.8 points this season. As for Bear River, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Stansbury is set to take on their familiar foe Mountain Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Stallions 14.4, the Mustangs 13.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Bear River will face off against rival Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
