Basketball Recap: Cumberland Takes a Loss

Cumberland lost against Nottoway back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cumberland Dukes fell to the Nottoway Cougars 58-52.

Leading Nottoway to victory were Jahmarion Wright and Xxavier Mccain. Wright went 7 of 17 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists, while Mccain went 6 for 15 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Wright a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anton Carter Jr, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds.

Cumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Nottoway, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Cumberland will venture away from home to take on Charles City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nottoway, they will welcome Buckingham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Buckingham will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Nottoway surely won't give up without a fight.
