Softball Recap: Tipton Takes a Loss

Tipton had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-16 to make it five. They came up short against the Frankton Eagles, falling 9-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 12-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Frankton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-7. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Frankton's part, Grace Kessinger looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kessinger has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Claire Osborne, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Brooks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Tipton will square off against Alexandria-Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Frankton, they will take on Mississinewa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
