Softball Recap: Weslaco East Takes a Loss

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Weslaco East was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lopez Lobos. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lobos earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Weslaco East saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelica Herrera, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Weslaco East's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Lopez, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Weslaco East will host Donna at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Wildcats' favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while the Redskins have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Lopez, they will venture away from home to square off against Harlingen South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Lobos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
