Softball Recap: Prairie Central Gets the Win

While Prairie Central's win against Eureka wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Hornets 4-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Dixie Hogan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Prairie Central's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Galloway, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Galloway has posted since back in April of 2024. Jules Woodrey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Prairie Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Eureka, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Prairie Central will challenge Streator at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.63 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Eureka, they will head out on the road to take on Tremont at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
