The Haddam-Killingworth Cougars will take on the East Lyme Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Haddam-Killingworth's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while East Lyme has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
It was a proper cat-fight when Haddam-Killingworth challenged Cromwell on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Emma Giaccone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Haddam-Killingworth got a massive performance out of Grace LaConte, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Caley Napoletano, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Lyme). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past RHAM 16-14. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Jillian Hintze made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hintze was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Natalie Knowlton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Lorelei Gronholm was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
East Lyme always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Haddam-Killingworth has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Lyme, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
East Lyme's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Haddam-Killingworth has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for East Lyme, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Haddam-Killingworth keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Haddam-Killingworth might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from East Lyme when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
