Basketball Recap: Northwest Whitfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After flying high against Southeast Whitfield County last Saturday, Northwest Whitfield came back down to earth. The Northwest Whitfield Bruins took a hard 55-36 fall against the Adairsville Tigers on Friday. The Bruins' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adairsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre Winters, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 18 points and six assists. The game was Winters' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Benjamin A Abernathy, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Northwest Whitfield's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Adairsville, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Ridgeland the next time they take the court. Northwest Whitfield will host Ridgeland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Adairsville will head out to face them at 8:30 p.m. on January 31st.
