Softball Recap: West Potomac Wins Going Away Against Woodson

West Potomac won the last time they faced Woodson and things went their way on Friday too. The Wolverines came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 14-10. The matchup marked the Wolverines' most dominant victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Sabrina Driggers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ashley McGuckin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for West Potomac and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Woodson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Potomac will welcome Alexandria City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Woodson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfax at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
