Basketball Recap: San Diego Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

San Diego's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They secured a 51-46 W over the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions. Given the Vaqueros' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 665th, while the Lions are ranked 1437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Diego's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

San Diego will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully San Diego likes a good challenge. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, they will take on Hebbronville at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
