Basketball Game Preview: Coral Gables Cavaliers vs. North Miami Beach Chargers

The Coral Gables Cavaliers will face off against the North Miami Beach Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Coral Gables will be strutting in after a win while North Miami Beach will be coming in after a loss.

Two weeks ago, Coral Gables was able to grind out a solid victory over Coral Reef, taking the game 26-19.

Coral Gables relied on the efforts of Sela Pena, who posted nine points and three blocks, and Veronica Trueba, who had nine points. That's the most points Trueba has posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 74 points the game before, North Miami Beach was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They took a blow against Southridge, falling 50-19. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, North Miami Beach saw an underclassman step up: freshman Serena Volcy earned nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

North Miami Beach's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Coral Gables, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.

Coral Gables beat North Miami Beach 48-36 in their previous meeting back in November of 2018. Does Coral Gables have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Miami Beach turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
