Basketball Recap: Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 30-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harmony Science Academy. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Harmony Science Academy earlier this season, when they won 39-23.

Despite the loss, Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy still got an impressive performance from Bella Marquez, who posted 15 points and six steals. Marquez has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Miranda Urquidi-Sauceda was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine steals for Harmony Science Academy. That makes it five consecutive games in which Urquidi-Sauceda has scored at least a third of Harmony Science Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clarissa Momoh, who scored six points.

Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Harmony Science Academy, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 10-17.

Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-10 defeat against Bowie on the 4th. As for Harmony Science Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-25 loss against Irvin on the 4th.
