Baseball Recap: Holy Cross Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Holy Cross had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Holmes Bulldogs a 15-0 shutout on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-5 back in April.

Chase Tully was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Holy Cross got a massive performance out of Ethan Hopple, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Hopple a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Owens, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Holy Cross always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holmes only posted an OBP of .000.

Holy Cross' win bumped their record up to 5-23. As for Holmes, they dropped their record down to 1-18-1 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will face off against Highlands at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holmes, they will take on Newport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
