Weslaco East came tearing into Friday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Mercedes Tigers by a score of 60-53. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Mercedes still got an impressive performance from Marques Clower, who posted 21 points and three steals. Clower has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joseph Carr, who earned 12 points.

Weslaco East pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Mercedes, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
