Basketball Recap: Oak Glen's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Oak Glen had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 55-51 victory over the Tyler Knights on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Golden Bears' disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 687th, while the Knights are ranked 79th).

Oak Glen was led to victory by Gavin Geisse and Tyler Evans. Geisse posted 18 points, while Evans had 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Weekley, who put up six points.

Oak Glen's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-11. As for Tyler, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Oak Glen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-32 loss against Catholic Central on the 4th. Tyler has also already played their next game, a 61-46 defeat against Ritchie County on the 1st.
