Baseball Recap: Great Falls' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Great Falls made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Richland Northeast, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Great Falls Red Devils blew past the Richland Northeast Cavaliers 15-5 on Monday. Considering the Red Devils have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Trenton Trotter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Great Falls got a massive performance out of Kamden Wood, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. With that strong performance, Wood is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Kelby Brantley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win (which was Great Falls' third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Richland Northeast, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Great Falls will be taking part in a tournament against Chester at 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday. Great Falls knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Chester likes a good challenge. As for Richland Northeast, they are taking a road trip to square off against Fairfield Central at 6:00 p.m. on March 11th.
