Football Recap: Hanover Area Starts Season with Loss at Home

Hanover Area unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 42-24 to Marian Catholic. If the Hawkeyes were looking for revenge after losing 35-0 to Marian Catholic when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rory Dixon was a one-man wrecking crew For Marian Catholic. as he rushed for 226 yards and four scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD. Those 226 rushing yards gave Dixon a new career-high.

Coming up, Hanover Area will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marian Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tri-Valley at 7:00 p.m. The contest will give Marian Catholic their first taste of in-conference action this season.
