Baseball Recap: Palestine-Wheatley Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Palestine-Wheatley hadn't done well against McCrory recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Palestine-Wheatley walked away with an 11-6 win over McCrory. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly five runs.

Brody Parker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Palestine-Wheatley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Slade Parker, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Hoggatt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Palestine-Wheatley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Palestine-Wheatley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for McCrory, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palestine-Wheatley will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Carlisle at 4:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for McCrory, they will take on Melbourne at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
