Softball Recap: HCYA Has No Trouble Against Kinkaid

HCYA barely beat Kinkaid the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. HCYA was the clear victor by an 18-5 margin over Kinkaid on Friday. The result was nothing new for HCYA, who have now won 14 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Sarah Horne, who fired off four home runs, 11 RBI, and one double while going 5-for-5. Those 11 RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yanaia Scott, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.

Horne wasn't the only one working in the home run department: HCYA lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

HCYA's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Kinkaid, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4-1 record this season.

HCYA will square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kinkaid, they are taking a road trip to take on Cooper at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cooper will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Kinkaid surely won't give up without a fight.
