Volleyball Recap: Castle View Starts Season with Win on the Road

Castle View had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Valor Christian Eagles by a score of 3-1. For the Sabercats, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Castle View had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-21.

Karsen Staples paced Castle View's offense, picking up ten kills. Staples got some help from Rowan Shaughnessy and his 18 assists. Liam Brooks controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Valor Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Renn Bailey, who had ten assists and six digs. The dominant performance gave Bailey a new career-high in digs.

Looking ahead, Castle View will challenge Littleton Public Schools at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valor Christian, they will be playing at home against Regis Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
