Basketball Recap: Hanalani Comes Up Short

If Hanalani was riding high fresh off their 57-35 takedown of Molokai last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hanalani Royals came up short against the Menlo School Knights on Monday, falling 55-30. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Royals came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 44th in Hawaii, while the Knights are ranked 228th in California).

Hanalani has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Menlo School, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hanalani will take on Hawaii Baptist Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Menlo School, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Half Moon Bay at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Menlo School's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
