Back at the plate, Addie Bryant was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Maddie Buntain also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, East Jessamine might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Frederick Douglass who claimed the real prize. The Jaguars fell 9-4 to the Broncos. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Woodford County, East Jessamine also got a great game from a two-way player: Hillary Stansbury. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Kylee Oliver made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Woodford County has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for East Jessamine, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
Woodford County's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Yellowjackets have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for East Jessamine, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Woodford County continue to outrun the ball?
Woodford County came out on top in a nail-biter against East Jessamine when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
