Football Recap: Willard Comes Up Short

Willard had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-8 to make it seven. They were outmatched by Republic and fell 59-7. While losing is never fun, Willard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Republic is ranked 16th).

As for Republic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The result was nothing new for Republic, who have now won six games by 22 points or more so far this season.

Republic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Klier, who rushed for 49 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Klier a new career-high. Izaiah Hull was another key back, rushing for 67 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.

As of now, neither Willard nor Republic have any future games scheduled.
