Recap: Gwynn Park Yellowjackets vs. Douglass Eagles
The Gwynn Park Yellowjackets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They really took it to Douglass for the full four quarters, racking up a 88-45 win at home. Gwynn Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 43 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gwynn Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Geornae Davis, who scored 11 points along with three blocks and two steals. That's the first time this season that Davis posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Mason, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Gwynn Park, bringing their record for this year to 8-4. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 50 points. As for Douglass, they bumped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gwynn Park won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oxon Hill at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Oxon Hill is ranked 52nd, while Gwynn Park is ranked 75th). As for Douglass, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Friendly at 7:15 p.m.
