Basketball Game Preview: Tri Titans vs. Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles

The Tri Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tri will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Tri will bounce into Friday's match after beating Shenandoah, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Tri managed a 46-40 victory over Shenandoah on Saturday. The 46-point effort marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Tri found their leader in freshman Bryan Kinder, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracen Huffman, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Cambridge City Lincoln suffered their biggest defeat since February 17, 2024 on Thursday. They were dealt a 77-48 loss at the hands of Northeastern. The Golden Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.

Tri will need focus on slowing down Dustin Lunsford, one of several Cambridge City Lincoln players who made an impact when they last played. He had eight points in addition to six assists and five boards. That's the most assists Lunsford has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dustin Irwin, who put up nine points.

Tri's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Tri hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.5 points per game. However, it's not like Cambridge City Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Tri didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cambridge City Lincoln in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 64-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
