Softball Recap: Greensburg Central Catholic Wins Going Away Against Monessen

Greensburg Central Catholic came out on top against Monessen on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Centurions were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Greyhounds. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Julianna Saxion was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Saxion was also big at the plate, earning three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Keller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Greensburg Central Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monessen struck out nine times.

Greensburg Central Catholic picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Monessen, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Greensburg Central Catholic beat the Greyhounds by a score of 9-3 later that day.
