Baseball Game Preview: Hartford Huskies vs. Watervliet Panthers

The Hartford Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Watervliet Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hartford has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Brandywine hit Hartford with a eight-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies lost 11-1 to the Bobcats. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Hackett Catholic Prep typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Watervliet proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Fighting Irish by a score of 5-1.

Cayden Ryan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Logan Eberhard was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Hartford now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Watervliet, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-6.

Hartford suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Watervliet when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
