Softball Recap: Brownstown Central Braves vs. Eastern Hancock Royals

With a playoff game on the line, Brownstown Central rose to the challenge on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Eastern Hancock Royals out 7-5. Winning may never get old, but Brownstown Central sure is getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Kelsey Schneider spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Kinzee Dean was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Justice, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.

On Eastern Hancock's side, they got a good showing from Tatem Adams, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Lilli Ringer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Willis, who went 2-for-4 with a home run.

Even though they lost, Eastern Hancock didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 13 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brownstown Central only tossed five.

Brownstown Central's win bumped their record up to 19-11. As for Eastern Hancock, their loss dropped their record down to 26-3.

Brownstown Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Cascade at 8:30 p.m. Cascade will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Brownstown Central surely won't give up without a fight. Eastern Hancock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
