Preview: Dutchtown Griffins vs. Zachary Broncos
Dutchtown is 0-3 against Zachary since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dutchtown Griffins will take on the Zachary Broncos at TBD. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dutchtown comes in on seven and Zachary on three.
With a playoff game on the line, Dutchtown rose to the challenge on Friday. They slipped by the Wildcats 21-20.
Meanwhile, Zachary stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Destrehan 35-14. Zachary's victory was all the more impressive since Destrehan was averaging only 9.08 points allowed on the season.
Kameron Thomas went supernova for Zachary, rushing for 242 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Thomas hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Trey?dez Green, who picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Dutchtown's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.6 points per game. As for Zachary, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
Dutchtown suffered a grim 33-7 defeat to Zachary in their previous meeting back in September of 2016. Can Dutchtown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
