Basketball Recap: Denver Jewish Day Takes a Loss

Denver Jewish Day suffered their biggest defeat since January 30th on Thursday. They were dealt a 44-15 loss at the hands of the Prairie Mustangs. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Tigers' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

When it comes to explaining why Denver Jewish Day lost, don't look at Ruby Friedman. Despite the final result, she posted six points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Friedman a new career-high in rebounds.

Prairie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Molly Walker out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten steals. Walker has become a key player for Prairie: the team is undefeated when she posts at least five steals, but 6-8 otherwise. Hannah Kugler was another key player, going 9-for-16 to rack up 20 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Denver Jewish Day's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Prairie, they moved to 11-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Denver Jewish Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-18 victory against Front Range Baptist on the 25th. As for Prairie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-43 win against Weldon Valley on the 22nd.
