Softball Preview: West Limestone Wildcats vs. East Limestone Indians

West Limestone and East Limestone are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The West Limestone Wildcats are on the road again on Thursday to play the East Limestone Indians at 4:30 p.m. West Limestone is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

West Limestone can now show off 15 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Randolph School as West Limestone made off with a 17-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what West Limestone needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Autumn Large looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, West Limestone got a massive performance out of Aubrey Bethune, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Bethune, who went 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and a double.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but East Limestone had to settle for a 10-8 loss against Brewer on Monday. East Limestone has struggled against Brewer recently, as their match on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

West Limestone has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 23 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 34-6-3 record this season. As for East Limestone, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

West Limestone beat East Limestone 9-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Limestone since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
