Softball Game Preview: Seaman Vikings vs. Washburn Rural Blues

Seaman is 1-9 against Washburn Rural since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Blues at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Seaman lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Manhattan, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Indians a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Aubrey Warren, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Claire Watkins also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Washburn Rural got the win against Emporia back in April by a conclusive 13-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blues.

Seaman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Washburn Rural, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Seaman skirted past Washburn Rural 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
