Basketball Recap: Moss Point Takes a Loss

Moss Point's tournament run continued when they took on Richton on Saturday. The Moss Point Tigers took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Richton Rebels. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Moss Point lost, don't look at William Rogers. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Rogers has posted since back in November. The team also got some help courtesy of Jujuan Nettles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Dakota Amos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Richton, going 5 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Stenson, who posted six points and three steals.

Moss Point's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Richton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Moss Point didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-25 win against Poplarville on the 30th. As for Richton, they will host Mize at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
