Arcanum has gone a perfect 7-0 against Dixie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Trojans will be taking part in a tournament against the Greyhounds at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dixie will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Arcanum extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Milton-Union.
Meanwhile, Dixie got the win against Twin Valley South on Monday by a conclusive 20-10. The Greyhounds have beaten the Panthers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Kaylie McConnell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bethany Himan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Peyton Jones was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Dixie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twin Valley South only posted an OBP of .405.
Dixie's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Arcanum, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
Everything went Arcanum's way against Dixie when the teams last played back in April, as Arcanum made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greyhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
