Baseball Recap: Bath County Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Bath County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Fighting Blues: they've now won three in a row.

I Ingram made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs. He has become a key player for Bath County: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise.

Ingram wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was C Lowry, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Bath County is 2-1 when Lowry posts three or more RBI, but 5-10 otherwise. Another was O Perdue, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Bath County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Parry McCluer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
