Basketball Recap: Riley County Drops Season-High Score on Nemaha Central

Riley County scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 72-65 to the Nemaha Central Thunder. Even though they lost, the Falcons' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Riley County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Harmison, who posted 13 points and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Trey Webber, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 18 points.

Even though they lost, Riley County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Riley County's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Nemaha Central, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.

Coming up, Riley County will face off against St. Marys at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Marys knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Riley County likes a good challenge. As for Nemaha Central, they will take on Olpe at 7:25 p.m. on Monday. Olpe will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Nemaha Central surely won't give up without a fight.
