Baseball Game Preview: Warren/Stockton Warhawks vs. River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats

For the first time this season, Warren/Stockton will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

River Ridge/Scales Mound will be up against a hot Warren/Stockton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Warhawks were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Rockford Auburn on Saturday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Warhawks this season.

Meanwhile, River Ridge/Scales Mound had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Timberwolves as they made off with a 10-3 win.

Sam Rife made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Hamish Boden was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Warren/Stockton's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Warren/Stockton was able to grind out a solid victory over River Ridge/Scales Mound in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-3. Do the Warhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
