Volleyball Recap: Golden Valley Takes a Loss

Golden Valley saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Spartans.

While Golden Valley was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23.

Aolani Lefotu paced Golden Valley's offense, picking up seven kills. Lefotu got some help from Esmeralda Frausto and her 13 assists. Aliyah Velazquez controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Golden Valley dropped their record down to 1-4-1 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for South, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Golden Valley will venture away from home to face off against Bakersfield at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South, they will challenge Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
