Softball Preview: Brownwood Lions vs. Graham Steers

Brownwood and Graham are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Brownwood Lions will be playing at home against the Graham Steers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brownwood will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Brownwood scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Mineral Wells 14-4. The win was just what Brownwood needed coming off of a 14-8 defeat in their prior game.

Tynlea Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Wilson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Chloe Walls was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Peyton Pena, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Graham waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees. That's two games straight that Graham has won by exactly two runs.

Brownwood's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-10. As for Graham, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
