Screven County skates past Jefferson County with ease

Recap: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Jefferson County Warriors

In what's become a running theme this season, the Screven County Gamecocks gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They really took it to Jefferson County for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-32 victory at home. With Screven County ahead 43-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Screven County was led to victory by Alailah Scott and Jaliah Roberts. Scott scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Roberts scored 21 points along with seven steals. Scott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jackson, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Despite the defeat, Jefferson County saw an underclassman step up: Jaelissia Reeves dropped a double-double on 22 points and 27 rebounds. That was a full 68.8% of Jefferson County's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Screven County has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Jefferson County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-22.

Screven County will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Claxton at 5:30 p.m. Claxton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 438th, while Screven County is ranked 189th). Jefferson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
