Baseball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes vs. Chester Yellowjackets

Zeigler-Royalton extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 20-6 in the process. They fell 7-2 to the Chester Yellowjackets. The Tornadoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Chase Cole was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

On Chester's side, Kolton Jany was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs. Jany has become a key player for the Yellowjackets: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Brenden Malley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Zeigler-Royalton will venture away from home to take on Massac County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Chester, they will welcome Perryville at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
