Recap: South Gwinnett Comets vs. Archer Tigers
The South Gwinnett Comets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Archer by a score of 22-19. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Gwinnett in their matchups with Archer: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, South Gwinnett still got an impressive performance from Jayshawn Appling, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archer to victory, but perhaps none more so than William Wallace, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Emmanuel Mcrae was another key contributor, gaining 109 total yards and two touchdowns.
South Gwinnett's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Archer, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
South Gwinnett will head out on the road to face off against Newton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Gwinnett in Georgia (Newton is ranked eighth, while South Gwinnett is ranked 52nd). As for Archer, they will be playing at home against Grayson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
