Baseball Recap: Bethesda Christian Beats Azle Christian for Their Third Straight Victory

Bethesda Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Azle Christian Fighting Crusaders get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Lions have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Corbin Gonzales made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Bethesda Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Bethesda Christian got a massive performance out of Jayden Myers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Myers a new career-high. Matthew Benson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Bethesda Christian now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Azle Christian, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Fighting Crusaders beat Bethesda Christian by a score of 8-7 on Thursday.
